Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley, California.
The perfect desert vacation. All embracing calmness and dry desert heat combined with a archaic landscape full of wonders. The place to retune all your senses. Desert Magic we love…♥
Just sit. Just sit and listen.
Cars filling gas or passing by. People buying souvenirs in the General Store. Some Harleys roaring by. The calmness of the desert is so absolut that every sound is isolated and clear. Sometimes at night you can hear the engine of a car 10 minutes before it appears. The underlying quietness of this place is so relaxing I could sit on a bench outside the General Store with a Coffee in my hands for days to come. At night when the sky is clear, which it is mostly, the stars are so close you really feel what it means to live in the universe.
Where to stay:
We definitely recommend to stay there for at least a night be it on the campground or in the Motel with nice rooms. Have a swim in the heated pool, pure luxury after a day in the desert. I promise you want to come back again and again…
What else is there:
The Sand Dunes, Zabriskie Point and Badwater three more absolutely MagicPlaces you shouldn`t miss. Also highly recommended is a visit to the Chinaranch near Shoshone a really neat oasis in the desert. And if you are into Hot Springs absolutely not to miss are the Tecopah Hot Springs.
