Ayurveda holidays par excellence
The UTMT Ayurveda, Boutique Hotel in Dikwella, Sri Lanka is the perfect place to rejuvenate body and soul. The tropical landscape, the hot humid air the beautiful rooms make for the perfect Ayurveda holiday.
Forget your cosmetic surgeon …
When you leave the plane in Sri Lanka you are greeted by a very special light. Tropical humid air, dust glimmering over rice fields – a perfect stage for a sultry summer love story. While driving to our hotel, on the only highway in the country, dogs, cows and elephants are flying by. White egrets are staking on their long legs through damp fields, lush tropical forest is lining the road. All this accompanied by singhalese music blaring from the radio – daydreaming after a long flight.
In the south of Sri Lanka, close to the little fishermen village Dikwella lies the in 2014 finished Ayurveda Boutique Hotel UTMT –Underneath the Mango Tree Beach & Spa Hotel.
The drive from the airport takes 3 hours, after arriving in my beautiful room I take a shower and the soothing view out through the open window on palm trees and the ocean, forces me in an instant and relaxing sleep. From now on it’s tune out, turn off – Ayurveda time.
The UTMT is built directly on the beach the only sounds you hear are the breaking shore, chirping insects and thousands of beautiful singing tropical birds.
The resort is built and lead by the Austrian family Hollman, their interior design focus lies on splendid bathrooms with outdoor showers, some rooms even equipped with a private pool on top of the 25m hotel pool. Perfect even for family Ayurveda holidays. Kids are welcome and get entertained while their parents get a total makeover. There are alone three guards at the hotel beach, there is a cinema with childrens movies, a childrens library, lots of toys and special entertainment during the day.
At the UTMT you fell like royalty. The Ayurveda treatments are specially designed to your personal likings and needs.
A doctor checks with pulse diagnosis your doshas and prescribes a treatment combined of massages and a special diet to get them back in balance.
I had six (!) massages a day, green soup in the morning, lots of fresh mango and papaya and dinner in the evening.
After 50 Massages i felt so fit that I took surfing lessons on my two last days …
I’ll be back!
